A lot is occurring at this very moment; Lyla started Kindergarten, we're reaching our year date of living in Washington, and our baby is getting close to arriving. I can't help but feel a bit anxious but I am ready. If you've noticed, I have not been around much lately, you might have caught me on Instagram a few times but I've been exhausted, still fighting my own immune system and still puking my guts out from this pregnancy, thanks to having HG (again). Arlo has been a great comfort since the very beginning, in fact, I'm almost certain she knew I was pregnant before I did. She began wanting to be by me every moment, I would be laying down and she would rest her head right next to mine. In fact, her acting that way was one of the leading reasons I took the test, to begin with, and good thing I did, because I was scheduled for surgery for the following week. She also follows me to the bathroom when I'm throwing up and I can hear her whimpering outside of the door. Brings me back to the time when she was a puppy and Lyla told us Arlo had eaten one of her finger lights which had a battery in it and we had induced vomiting, come to find out she didn't eat the toy. I remember just holding her as a puppy and feeling so heartbroken thinking that we had failed her...long story short we threw the finger light away. Arlo has been so good to us, especially Lyla. When getting a new animal for the family it's always a worry if they will be a good fit for children, in our case Arlo was a great addition, we can't imagine life without her. Though I can't help but worry again how she will take on a newborn in the house, after all, she was the baby of the house until now. My worry is small though, she has always done well with infants, even as a puppy she would just lay down and roll over for the babies playing at the park.
Recently Alan has been working with Arlo to get her prepped for a new baby in the house, and working on her overall obedience. We've been taking her on more walks and teaching her new commands, she is now at the point where she no longer requires a leash and shows zero interest in other dogs while on our walk. What a good girl, right? And we all know every pup needs a paw-fect treat during the day, especially after training; her current favorite is Wild Weenies, a freeze-dried treat containing 97% muscle meat and organ meat. It's a high protein treat that she goes wild for and we feel happy feeding to her. It's important to us that we find treats that work well for her because we have had issues in the past where some treats have caused her to get UTI's or an upset stomach. We'll for sure be keeping these in stock in our house as treats are going to play a huge role when it comes introducing Arlo to our little guy.
