REFLECT AND PLAN FOR 2018

Highlights
What are some things that made you happy this year?
  • Nature, sitting outside for 30+ minutes a day really helped me to feel alive.
  • Being surrounded by family and friends.
  • Being active.
  • Trying new things.

Gratitude
What are you grateful for this year?

This year has been a trying year for me; emotionally, physically, and mentally. I’m grateful that I found my strength through my challenges. I’m grateful for life, I know that can sound a bit cheesy, but this year showed me how quickly the ones you love can be ripped away. (granted I know this, this year just helped with refreshing that reality) Life this year has taught me to slow down, love hard, seize opportunities and always strive to be a better person (not to be confused with being ‘better than’’ ). I have a lot to be grateful for this year and I plan on carrying what I’ve gained from this year into the next.

Theme
What is your theme for the year?

I’ll use my 2017 theme for an example. My theme for 2017 was balance, and as I look back on my year I can see how much I truly needed to incorporate balance into my life. There were aspects of my life that were abandoned, some I failed to pay attention to, and others were aspects of my life that I didn’t even realize I was missing-- that’s how neglectful I was of my own needs. Something I tend to do is carry the world on my shoulders and it’s not healthy, it’s stressful and it was really impacting my life in a negative way. 2017 was an eventful year for me, and as much as I wanted (want) it to end, I can now look back and see how my ability to balance was tested throughout the entire year, life pushed me to balance, stumble, and re-balance repeatedly. Being mindful of my theme helped me to seek balance in all areas of my life this year -- a simple phrase can be a great motivator.

Before you make your resolution list, I encourage you to find a theme that you can apply to multiple areas of your life throughout the year. What areas do you want to focus on? Remember, ongoing focus leads to lasting change

Grow
Where do you want to be by the end of next year?

Let’s keep this realistic, chances are you won’t be a millionaire in the next 365 days nor will I. But wouldn’t it be nice? *wink

Goals
What goals do you want to achieve this year?

After I figure out what areas in my life I want to focus on, I like to :

Step 1. Make goals in these areas
Step 2. Have a deadline for these goals
Step 3. Breakdown my goals into actionable steps

*The clearer the goal the better.

Step 4. Make them visible. Write your goals down where you can see them, I like to create a vision board.

Step 5. Incorporate your goals into your routine.

Step 6. Revisit your goals. Figure out what is and isn’t working for you. Take time to reevaluate/shift your goals, you can do this weekly, bi-weekly (preferred), or monthly.

Things to remember
Everyone works differently. You’re not going to get where you want to be in two weeks, three months, or even six months -- keep pushing!
